Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 19 March 2026

1. About LexMT

LexMT is an AI-powered legal and regulatory research platform operated by an individual resident in Malta. LexMT is accessible at lex.mt and any associated subdomains.

By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you must not use LexMT.

2. Nature of the Service

LexMT provides access to an AI system that searches Maltese legislation, court judgments, and EU legal instruments and returns information in response to queries.

  • LexMT provides legal and regulatory information only. Not legal, tax, compliance, or professional advice of any kind.
  • Responses are generated by an AI system and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information.
  • You must independently verify all citations and information before relying on them.
  • LexMT does not create a lawyer-client relationship, accountant-client relationship, or any other professional relationship.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

3.1 Plans. LexMT is offered on three subscription tiers: Professional (1 user), Firm (5 users), and Enterprise (25 users), on monthly and annual billing cycles as published on the pricing page. Prices are in euros and inclusive of any applicable VAT. A limited free trial of 10 credits is available without payment.

3.2 Billing. Subscriptions are billed in advance. Monthly plans are billed every 30 days. Annual plans are billed as a single upfront payment.

3.3 Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.

3.4 Price changes. We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

4. Cancellation & Refunds

4.1 Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by emailing support@lex.mt. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access until then.

4.2 Monthly plans. Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable once the billing period has started, except where required by law.

4.3 Annual plans. If you cancel an annual plan within 14 days of purchase and have not used more than 10 credits, you are entitled to a full refund. After 14 days, annual plans are non-refundable except in the circumstances set out in clause 4.4.

4.4 Service unavailability. If LexMT is unavailable for a continuous period exceeding 72 hours in any calendar month due to causes within our control, you are entitled to a pro-rata credit for the affected period applied to your next billing cycle. Credits do not apply to scheduled maintenance, force majeure events, or third-party infrastructure failures (including Hetzner, Cloudflare, or Anthropic outages).

4.5 How to request a refund. Email support@lex.mt with your account email and reason. We will respond within 5 business days.

5. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to LexMT. The platform may be unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance (notified in advance where possible)
  • Unplanned technical issues
  • Third-party infrastructure outages (Hetzner, Cloudflare, Anthropic)
  • Force majeure events

We will use reasonable efforts to restore service promptly and to notify users of significant outages via email.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use LexMT to provide legal or professional advice to third parties as if it were your own advice, without disclosure that AI was used
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying corpus or model
  • Share your account credentials with others (the Firm plan includes 5 named users; Enterprise includes 25 named users, each requiring their own account)
  • Use LexMT for any unlawful purpose
  • Submit queries designed to circumvent the AI's safety guardrails

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms without refund.

7. Intellectual Property

The LexMT platform, brand, and software are the property of the operator. The underlying legal corpus (Malta legislation, court judgments, EU law) consists of public domain government publications. Query responses are generated outputs that you may use for your own research and work but may not resell or redistribute.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Maltese law:

  • LexMT is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information returned by LexMT, including missed deadlines, incorrect legal positions, or financial loss.
  • Our total liability to you in any 12-month period shall not exceed the subscription fees paid by you in that period.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Data & Privacy

Your use of LexMT is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: query history is retained on our servers for the duration of your subscription and can be deleted at any time; uploaded documents are processed in working memory only and are never written to persistent storage; your data is never used to train AI models.

9.1 Account data. We collect your email address solely to provide access to the platform, send you your one-time login code, and manage your subscription. We do not share your email address with third parties except as required to process payments (Stripe) or send transactional emails (Resend).

9.2 Mailing list. If you opt in to our mailing list, we will use your email address to send you updates about new Maltese legislation, regulatory changes, and LexMT product news. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at hello@lex.mt. Opting in is entirely voluntary and has no effect on your access to the platform.

9.3 No data sales. We will never sell, rent, lease, or otherwise transfer your personal data to any third party for commercial purposes. Full stop.

9.4 GDPR. We process your personal data on the lawful basis of contract performance (account and subscription management) and, where applicable, consent (mailing list). You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting hello@lex.mt.

9.5 Data Processing Agreement. Law firms, regulated entities, and other professional customers who require a formal GDPR Article 28 Data Processing Agreement (DPA) governing LexMT's processing of personal data on their behalf — including uploaded client documents — can review and rely upon our Data Processing Agreement. The DPA forms part of these Terms and is entered into automatically upon account creation. Countersigned PDF copies are available on request at hello@lex.mt.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of LexMT after that date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new terms, you may cancel your subscription before they take effect.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.
